Bethany Runs Half Marathon to Defeat Cancer

Sometimes a student just carries themselves with so much heart, caring, and courage it must be recognized.  Bethany MacGillavray, who has trained at our school since May 2015, has impressed us so much.

She recently completed the SeaWheeze Half Marathon on August 15th.  Bethany ran the 21.1 Kilometers in honour of her special friendship with Nicole, who lost her battle with skin cancer in 2014.  While Nicole was getting sick, she thought she was still going to be running this race with Bethany.  They trained together for 3 years for this and other events.

Bethany put in 3 months specifically for this race, which she performed even better than last year, running along side her significant other, Ray Lee (who rides his bike and brings along water and refreshments for the training sessions).

Bethany is working simultaneously for her Pink and Blue Belts in Gracie Jiu Jitsu 2-3 days a week at our Academy.  Watch out… she has a great Guillotine!  Even more so we wanted to give her great credit for keeping the flame for Nicole..  So inspiring Bethany, we are touched by your heart and dedication!IMG-20150815-WA000
